When I was younger, I was fine with making a fool of myself
because I enjoyed making others laugh.
I was fine even when days were full of things I didn't like to do
as long as I had my friends.
From my earliest memory, my dad said
to give more than you have.
I was young and foolish,
I wished for things in return whenever I shared anything.
The comfort that never came back to me
When I was struggling
Made me and adult, made me an adult.
"May only good things happen"
That used to be my wish, but now
I say "May nothing happen"
It's a little sad, and I missed it.
The innocent promises I've been keeping
have lost their value as time passed.
The smile that used to be real like that of a child
now only conceals the bitterness I try hard to hide.
My mother, who always seemed strong
Told me with a voice that now sounds a little tender.
As you grow up, you learn that success isn't everything.
The words that seemed so obvious, now hit me.
I guess now I've become an adult. Become an adult.
"May only good things happen"
That used to be my wish, but now
I say "May nothing happen"
It's a little sad, and I missed it.
I miss it, and it makes me lonely.
